...a giant leap

I spent a lot of time in the past year thinking about the direction I would like my new life to take. My "education" was not what I wanted it to be, and I find myself doing just what I had hoped to avoid by getting it. I wake up every morning to go to a job for the single reason of making money. I feel no attachment to the job; I find the actual work to be a waste of what resources remain on the planet. While I have no desire to remain there, what else am I to do? Our great society has seen fit to put a value on everything, the food we eat, the shelter we reside in, even our very health. If we do not find a way to match that value, our lives are essential forfeit. I do agree that everyone needs to contribute to society, but the real question is what value to you assign our contributions? The backbones of our society, teachers, firefighters, store workers, have some of the lowest paying jobs. If all the essentials of life have a value, and we associate value to peoples contributions to offset this, then why do the necessary jobs have such a low value? Until we realize the true value of everything we have, our society will never improve its conditions, no matter how advanced or bright we think we are.
